Lavender is a strong-smelling, shrubby herb. The plants like a calcareous soil. Lavender is perennial and will flower from the second year.
In a container under glass in May. Plant out in June at 25x25 cm. Blooms from the second year in July-August. Likes a calcareous soil and a sunny spot. The dried flowers are also used as an 'air freshener', for example in the linen closet. The plants are best pruned back in the spring to prevent the shrubs from becoming too woody.
