Composting in the City – Is It Possible?
By now, most people know that you can easily compost your own kitchen and garden waste using a worm bin. But what if you don't like the idea of keeping a colony of worms, or you simply produce more organic waste than a standard worm bin can handle? Is a regular compost heap or compost bin suitable for use in the city?
Limited space or worried about pests?
A closed compost bin is an excellent solution. It keeps pests away while taking up very little space. Some compost bins are even compact enough to fit on a balcony or rooftop terrace.
No time to turn your compost regularly?
Many composting attempts fail simply because people have busy lives and don't have the time to turn or aerate the compost regularly. Good aeration is essential for fast and effective composting. All of our compost bins are designed to supply oxygen automatically, so turning the compost is no longer necessary.
Composting during winter?
Some compost bins are thermally insulated, allowing the composting process to continue even during the winter months.
Thermally insulated, self-aerating, closed compost bin
The Aerobin 200 is a closed composting system that allows you to collect excess liquid. This makes it suitable for use on a balcony or rooftop terrace. Its ingenious patented design automatically provides the airflow needed for efficient composting.

So, the answer is yes: composting in the city is absolutely possible with the right compost bin. If you only produce a small amount of organic waste, a standard worm bin is, of course, still an excellent choice.
