Beetroot 'Chioggia' is an old variety from the Italian town of Chioggia. The flesh of the Chioggia has beautiful red-white rings and a soft sweet taste. This variety gives a good yield and nice large beetroot.
With cultivation in a greenhouse, you can very well sow beets in February and March. Sowing: from April to July. Carefully, the second half of May is the best sowing period. Sow at 30 cm between the rows, later thin out at 7 to 10 cm, do not transplant. Harvest: When sown early from mid-July to the end of September. Carefully pull up the beetroot in late autumn - until about mid-November - before frost. Unscrew the leaves and place them in sand in a frost-free place.
